Strength, coordination, flexibility, musicality, and expression are all the elements that contribute to a performance. In my capstone, I intend on engaging in strength to support my spine. I want the audience to sense that someone is struggling to manage everything that is going on with themselves. I want to show this through resistance. I will be doing a lot of lifting and generally just carrying my own weight, so I have go make sure that my core is strong and active. Coordination is especially important in my piece because of my intricate choreography. Each movement flows into the next, and I will really have to think about my center of balance when I go to perform it. Musicality with my piece is also extremely intricate! Ever since I choreographed the Pandemic piece, I have been getting into creating abstract movements with just the arms, and I incorporated this in my capstone, so I have to pay attention to the rhythmic details that need to be expressed through those segments of choreography. Finally, expression will be a key component in my piece, because I want to express the art of letting go. I achieved this in my acting class a couple days ago, in which I stopped thinking about the lines and started to just let the characters intentions flow out of my monologue. I want to channel this euphoric feeling through the story telling of my piece.
